The things I make are inspired by nature. I grew up in the countryside and love the endless landscapes that change radically as the colours of the sky evolve. To me, the process of making pots is a constant reminder of the interconnection of earth and the heavens, as the pots progress from blobs of clay to perfectly centred spherical objects on the wheel, and then – after an application of powders from the ground, mixed with water and exposed to fire – to glistening blue glazed wares. I love making functional ware and it gives me great pleasure when people welcome my pots into their lives and enjoy using them.
